Junior SQL Server DBA

YOUR MISSION: Act as Junior Production DBA in a dynamic nationwide company  to meet current challenges and prepare for long term growth.  We are a leader in our field with a reputation for getting the job done whatever it takes.

Our installation consists of several hundred SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 production databases.  The databases are back-ends to multiple ASP, ASP.NET, and compiled applications.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Work with the Database Architect.
  • Database support for all SQL servers.
  • SQL security administration. 
  • Performance monitoring and resolution.
  • Configure SQL Profiler and read traces.
  • Tuning: databases (indexes and other), long running queries in applications.
  • Creating ad-hoc databases and rolling out modifications to existing databases.
  • Data import to or migration between SQL servers.
  • Managing SQL jobs, backups, transaction logs, restores and monitoring adequacy of disk space.
  • Code review of stored procedures and custom objects.
  • Develop and critique T-SQL code.
  • Be on-call and available to work after hours.

YOUR EXPERIENCE AND STRENGTHS

  • SQL all-rounder: some administration, performance tuning, and developer-dba skills. 
  • Interest in learning new things.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relational database management systems and client server technologies.
  • At least 2 years working with MS SQL Server 2000 and/or 2005.
  • At least 1 year experience as a production DBA.
  • Good T-SQL.
  • MS SQL 2000 and 2005 experience required. 
  • Knowledge of database design concepts and normalization.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with company staff and clients.

Platform Manager

YOUR MISSION: To drive our organization's growth by guiding new and improved service offerings. The Platform Manager is responsible for managing the strategic marketing direction of the InfoDox™ platform and all related Discovery Management offerings. This includes all discovery collection, processing, review, and production services.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide in-depth market and competitive analysis and positioning.
  • Define IE Discovery service positioning and differentiation from competitors and communicate directly to sales teams.
  • Define new services by developing market requirements with communication back to Directors and the internal development team(s).
  • Coordinate and negotiate priorities with the engineering team/internal development team.
  • Interface regularly with Marketing Manager to plan and develop marketing tactics including web, events, PR, advertising and collateral to support platform marketing objectives.
  • Develop marketing messaging requirements, including messaging content and priority.

Inside Sales Representative

YOUR MISSION: To contribute your sales savvy and support to a leading-edge company providing quality discovery management and other litigation support solutions to our clients.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Identify and pass qualified sales leads, contacts and possible opportunities to outside sales team.
  • Schedule appointments (phone or in-person) between prospects and assigned sales representatives for discovery about needs of prospects.

Application Developer

YOUR MISSION: As a member of the internal applications team, you will be responsible for designing, building, maintaining, and supporting a wide variety of applications in support of operational and administrative functions.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work directly with internal stakeholders and business analysts to discover and refine application requirements and then architect workable designs.
  • Architect, build and maintain and utilities to support operational and administrative functions within the company using Microsoft technologies on both desktop and web platforms.
  • Work within a SDLC based on iterative methodologies featuring:
  •  Test driven development requiring the creation and maintenance of a suite of unit tests for new application development.
        o Focus on frequently delivering value in the form of working functionality to stakeholders.
        o Short release cycles to maximize responsiveness to changing customer requirements.
        o Frequent interaction during the development process with stakeholders.
  • Occasional documentation support in the form of draft user manuals and technical articles. The majority of documentation is handled by the technical writers, but on highly technical topics the programmers are sometimes called upon to assist in the writing process.

PLATFORMS/TECHNOLOGIES WE USE

  • Web Development:  All new development is done in ASP.NET using VB.NET on the 2.X version of the .NET framework. There is still some support on legacy applications built on earlier versions of .NET and ASP classic, but the long term plan is to port supported applications to later versions of the platform.
  • Desktop Application Development:  Most of our desktop applications are built either as VB.NET forms applications or MS Access database front-ends.
  • Database Development: Primarily SQL 2000/2005, but some work using Microsoft Access depending on the requirements of the project.

YOUR EXPERIENCE AND STRENGTHS:

Required

  • At least 3 years of professional programming experience in a MS Windows environment.
  • At least 3 years experience developing database driven applications, preferably against large data sets.
  • At least 1 year of web development experience, preferably in ASP or ASP.NET.
  • Solid understanding of RDBMS and data modeling concepts and a track record of designing and creating high performance database applications preferably using Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Ability to demonstrate a mastery of programming beyond the simple mechanics of writing code. We are looking for an artist, not an engineer.

Desired

  • Experience with the majority of the technologies we use as described above is preferred, but experience in similar modern development platforms can be substituted.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field.
  • Domain experience in Discovery Management or Litigation.
  • Experience on a development team using Agile or other iterative programming approaches.
  • Experience working with a source code control system.
