Hempfling, II, Global Litigation Counsel, Whole Foods MarketJohn was born and raised in Austin, Texas. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1994. He attended South Texas College of Law where he was a member of the law review and received both writing and speaking awards as a member of the nationally-recognized moot court program. John graduated magna cum laude in 2000 and he was subsequently employed as an associate in the commercial litigation and appellate sections in the Houston office of a national law firm. He returned to Austin and joined a litigation boutique as a commercial litigator in 2003. John has tried numerous bench and jury trials, arbitrations, and has participated in appeals before the Supreme Court of Texas and various intermediate courts of appeals around the country. He joined Whole Foods Market in 2006 and continues to actively participate in all phases of litigation—including the dreaded world of electronic discovery (much to his chagrin). Richard Munisteri, Vice President and Associate General Counsel, Live NationMr. Munisteri is Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Live Nation in Beverly Hills, California. His duties are management of the company’s global litigation docket along with governmental and regulatory affairs, compliance and dispute resolution. Mr. Munisteri performed these same duties as Assistant General Counsel at Clear Channel Entertainment, which he joined in 2002 and which in 2005 spun off from Clear Channel to become Live Nation.Previously, Mr. Munisteri was General Counsel to Texas Comptroller Carole Keeton Rylander at the state capital in Austin. There, Mr. Munisteri served as the Comptroller’s chief legal officer and supervisor of nearly fifty agency attorneys. Before joining the Comptroller’s Office in December 1999, Mr. Munisteri was in private practice as a civil trial attorney since 1991 – as a shareholder in the Houston law firm of Munisteri, Sprott, Rigby, Newsom & Vincent, P.C., and formerly as an associate in the Houston office of Griggs & Harrison, P.C.Mr. Munisteri holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Houston Law Center (1991), and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin (1988). In law school, he won First Place and the Best Speaker award in both the intramural mock trial and moot court competitions, and clerked for the Honorable Lamar McCorkle, Presiding Judge of the 133rd Judicial District (Civil) Court of Harris County, Texas.Mr. Munisteri is a Member of the State Bars of California and Texas and is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern, Central, Southern and Eastern Districts of California and for the Northern, Southern, Western and Eastern Districts of Texas.
