Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Services

One of government's critical responsibilities is the duty to make information available to the public by responding quickly to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. In 2009, the Federal Government received 557,825 such requests. Further, in January of 2009, President Barack Obama issued an executive order calling for increased diligence on the part of government when it comes to making information available to the public. He stated that “All agencies should adopt a presumption in favor of disclosure, in order to renew their commitment to the principles embodied in FOIA, and to usher in a new era of open government.” However, a quick response can often be an onerous burden given the fact that the quantity of available records relevant to a FOIA request is skyrocketing. Data grows exponentially as government agencies adopt digital technology such as databases, e-mail, collaboration software, Twitter, instant and text messaging to execute the agency’s mission. Not to mention the fact that FOIA requests now include government information maintained for agencies by federal contractors. IE Discovery has experience in processing FOIA requests and can help you create a cost-effective solution to respond to your these requests.  Additionally, IE Discovery has familiarity with document and record management systems and processes through our extensive experience with federal agencies.
