Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Services
One of government's critical responsibilities is the duty to make information available to the public by responding quickly to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. In 2009, the Federal Government received 557,825 such requests. Further, in January of 2009, President Barack Obama issued an executive order calling for increased diligence on the part of government when it comes to making information available to the public. He stated that “All agencies should adopt a presumption in favor of disclosure, in order to renew their commitment to the principles embodied in FOIA, and to usher in a new era of open government.” However, a quick response can often be an onerous burden given the fact that the quantity of available records relevant to a FOIA request is skyrocketing.
